From October 29 to November 1, Modena takes center stage once again with Sciocolà
There is an unmistakable scent that fills the cobblestone streets and elegant arcades of Modena in late October. It is the warm, enveloping aroma of roasted cocoa, cocoa butter, and spices—an invitation to slow down and treat yourself to a moment of pure pleasure.
From October 29 to November 1, 2026, the heart of this Emilian city will host the eighth edition of Sciocolà, the artisanal chocolate festival that transforms the historic center into Italy’s most indulgent capital. Four days with free admission, open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., designed to welcome families, food lovers, and travelers of all ages.
Sponsored by CNA Modena, organized by SGP Grandi Eventi with support from the Chamber of Commerce, under the patronage of the City of Modena and the Emilia-Romagna Region, and in collaboration with ACAI, the event combines pastry-making expertise with the cultural exploration of an extraordinary region.
The Streets and Squares of Sweetness: Over 100 Events in the Heart of the City
For the 2026 edition, the Sciocolà map expands to include the most picturesque spots in Modena’s “salotto”: Via Emilia Centro, Piazza Grande, Corso Duomo, Piazza Matteotti, Piazza Torre and Piazza Mazzini.
As you stroll through these historic sites, you’ll find a lively program with over 100 events to discover and enjoy:
- Live cooking demonstrations: master chocolatiers take the stage to demonstrate tempering techniques, praline creations, and the boldest pairings in contemporary pastry.
- Spectacular giant sculptures: true works of art carved with a chisel from gigantic blocks of pure chocolate, capable of enchanting anyone who watches them take shape step by step.
- Workshops for kids: interactive spaces dedicated to young pastry chefs, where they can discover how a chocolate bar is made and experiment with their creativity.
- Events, books, and award ceremonies: book presentations on culinary themes, in-depth discussions on the ethical cocoa supply chain, and the presentation of the coveted Sciocolà d’Oro.
- Traveling shows and entertainment: street performers, activities, and background music to accompany your stroll from one tasting to the next.
And if you want to continue your weekend of culinary delights, stop by the Ferrara Food Festival , which runs from October 30 to November 1.
